סבוכים ונפתלים היו חייו הקצרים של לוחם האצ"ל ברוך מזרחי. מזרחי נולד ב-1926 כחמודה אבו אל-עיניין למשפחה ערבית מפורסמת מצפת. בגיל צעיר התקרב לקבוצת אנשי בית"ר ועבר ללמוד בבית הספר אליאנס. בגיל 16, לאחר מות אמו, התגייר, הצטרף לאצ"ל והשתתף בפעולות כנגד הבריטים. לאחר שנתפס, נשלח יחד עם עוד 55 אנשי אצ"ל ולח"י לגלות באריתריאה, שם נורה על ידי שומרים סודאנים וניצל בנס. לאחר שנתיים שוחרר, חזר לארץ ישראל ועסק באיסוף מודיעין לקראת פעולה בג'נין. ב-18 באפריל 1948 נעצר האוטובוס הערבי בו נסע לבדיקה שגרתית, ולרוע מזלו שוטר ערבי זיהה אותו לפי שן הזהב שבפיו ומאז נעלמו עקבותיו. גורלו נותר בגדר תעלומה לא פתורה עד שב-1968 הגיע עיתונאי ישראלי שחקר את הפרשה לסביבות הכפר סנור, שמע מהמקומיים על יהודי שהוצא להורג על ידי כנופיות קאוקג'י והגיע למערה בה נקבר. ב-9 באוקטובר 1969 הובא מזרחי למנוחת עולמים בטקס צבאי מלא בחלקה הצבאית בבית הקברות בנתניה ובין מלוויו היה גם מפקד האצ"ל מנחם בגין.
