ઉરુગ્વે દક્ષિણ અમેરીકામાં આવેલો એક દેશ છે. ઉરુગ્વેમાં સ્પેનીશ ભાષામાં વહેવાર ચાલે છે. દેશની રાજધાની તેમ જ સૌથી મોટું શહેર મોન્ટેવિડિઓ છે. ઉરુગ્વેની સરહદ પર બે મોટા દેશો બ્રાઝિલ તેમ જ આર્જેન્ટીના આવેલા છે. આમ તો ઉરુગ્વે દક્ષિણ અમેરીકાનો બીજા ક્રમે આવતો સૌથી નાનો દેશ છે. માત્ર એક દેશ સુરીનામનું ક્ષેત્રફળ ઉરુગ્વે કરતાં ઓછું છે, તે દક્ષિણ અમેરીકાનો સૌથી નાનો દેશ છે. અહીંનું ભૂપૃષ્ઠ મોટેભાગે સમતળ છે, જ્યાં ખાસ કરીને ખેતરો આવેલાં છે.
