O cararí está clasificado como extinto polo Libro Vermello das Linguas Ameazadas da UNESCO[1]

A lingua cararí (tamén escrita como kararí) é unha lingua morta que pertence á familia das linguas arauacas que foi falada outrora no Brasil, na rexión do río Mucuim, un afluente no río Purus.[2][3] Ramirez (2019) clasifica a lingua cararí como unha das linguas piro.[2]

Existe unha lista de 72 palabras que foron recollidas por Johann Natterer en 1833.[2]
