Colubridae (latinez coluber, suge) sugeen familia bat da. Barnean munduko sugeen bi herenak ditu, 304 genero eta 1.938 espezie inguru edukiz. Kontinente guztietan, Antarktikan izan ezik, bizi dira.[1]
Gehienak ez dira pozoitsuak baina Boiga generokoek kosk egiten dute eta Rhabdophis generokoek hildakoak eragin dituzte.[1][2]
Goiko eta beheko masailetan dituzte hortzak, baina hodi gabeak dira denak. Oso mota gutxik dute pozoia. Muturreko hezurrak higikorrak dituzte.[3]
