El ríu Duero[1] naz nos Picos d'Urbión -Soria- a una altitú averada a los 2.200 m y percuerre tola meseta norte atravesando Castiella y Llión -por Burgos, Valladolid, Zamora y Salamanca- y les rexones portugueses de Trás-os-Montes y Entre Minho e Douro. La so llonxitú de 895 km fai que tenga la conca más grande de tola Península, con 98.160 km². Namái ye navegable a partir de la fastera pente'l sur de la Rexón de Llión -nel Parque Natural d'Arribes del Dueru hasta la so boca en Portugal, pola ciudá de Porto.

Esti gran ríu traviesa delles estayes de fala llionesa como son les comarques de Miranda -en Portugal- o la de Les Arribes -n'España-.

Los sos afluentes principales son los ríos llioneses Esla y Tormes, que nes sos confluencies lleven cuasi tanto caudal como'l propiu Duero.
