Die Pschent (Antieke Grieks: ψχεντ) was die naam van die dubbele kroon van Antieke Egipte. Die Egiptenare het dit gewoonlik die sechemti (sḫm.tỉ), die "Twee Magtiges", genoem.[1] Dit was ’n kombinasie van die rooi Desjret-kroon van Benede-Egipte en die wit Hedjet-kroon van Bo-Egipte.

Die Pschent was verteenwoordigend van die farao se mag oor die hele verenigde Egipte.[2] Dit het twee dieresimbole bevat: die kobra, bekend as die oeraeoes, wat die Benede-Egiptiese godin Wadjet verteenwoordig het, en ’n aasvoël as verteenwoordiger van die Bo-Egiptiese godin Nechbet. Hulle is aan die voorkant van die Pschent vasgemaak en is die "Twee Dames" genoem.

Argeologie en mitologie

Nes die Desjret- en die Hedjet-kroon, het geen Pschent bewaar gebly nie. Dit is net bekend uit afbeeldings, inskripsies en antieke verhale.

Van die gode wat soms met die dubbele kroon uitgebeeld word, is Horus[3] en Atoem, wat albei die farao verteenwoordig het of ’n spesiale verhouding met hom gehad het.[4]
