LHS 1140是一颗位于鲸鱼座红矮星,有2颗行星围绕其公转,分別是超级地球LHS 1140 b、LHS 1140c 和一顆未確認的LHS 1140d 。「LHS」是Luyten Half-Second星表的縮寫,該星表收錄每年自行量超過半個角秒的恆星[4]

LHS 1140b这颗超级地球位于適居帶,质量约为地球的6.7±1.8倍,半径约为地球的1.4±0.1倍[2][5],由此推算其密度约为地球的2.3±0.6倍。並因為該行星有凌星現象,讓天文學家得以觀測它的大氣層。

LHS 1140距离地球约39光年,形成于50亿年前,质量约为太阳的15%,自转周期为130天,没有观测到耀斑现象。[6]其行星LHS 1140b的公转半径约为0.09个天文单位,大约每25日,公转且通过LHS 1140前一次[2]
