隆頭魚亞目（学名：Labroidei）传统上為輻鰭魚綱鱸形目的一個亞目，但现在已知这传统分类是个多系群。较后的分类法将隆頭魚科独立成为隆頭魚目，只包含一科。[1][2]

[编辑]传统上，隆頭魚亞目下分6科：
- 慈鯛科（Cichlidae）：又稱麗魚科。
- 海鯽科（Embiotocidae）
- 雀鯛科（Pomacentridae）
- 隆頭魚科（Labridae）
- 岩鱚科（Odacidae）
- 鸚哥魚科（Scaridae）
现已知慈鯛科、海鯽科及雀鯛科属于卵附系，与银汉鱼目相关，而隆頭魚科等属于真鲈形系，接近鲈形目。在旧分类，隆頭魚科本身也是个并系群，但可以和岩鱚科及鸚哥魚科组成单系群，于是2017年《硬骨鱼支序分类学》将岩鱚科及鸚哥魚科并入隆頭魚科，独自组成隆頭魚目。[1][2]
