冠鹤属（学名：Balearica），也叫冕鹤属，在生物分类学上是鹤形目鹤科中的一个属。[1]本属2种现存物种全部分布在非洲大陆，撒哈拉沙漠以南。本属的鹤是唯一在树上搭巢的鹤科鸟类，人们据此认为这种鹤是比较原始的鹤科鸟。
和其它鹤一样，冠鹤属鸟类以昆虫，爬行动物和一些较小的哺乳动物为食。
分类学
[编辑]冠鹤属最早由法国动物学家马蒂兰·雅克·布里松于1760年提出。[2][3]其名称来自于拉丁文的巴利阿里群岛。[4]
