仁義

仁義是仁和義的合稱。由於儒家聖人孔子和「亞聖」孟子分別提倡仁和義，因此兩者經常並稱，成為中國讀書人最主要價值觀。例如孟子：「由仁義行，非行仁義」[1]；文天祥：「孔曰成仁，孟曰取義；惟其義盡，所以仁至」。

道家

老子認為，「義」是因為「仁」衰微才出現；而「仁」是因為「道」和「德」衰微才出現[2][3]。
