NGC 4833尼可拉·路易·拉卡伊在1751年至1752年在南非旅行途中发现的球状星团，并在1755登录在星表内。它随后也被詹姆士·丹露帕和约翰·赫歇尔观测和收录至星表内，它们的仪器可以将恒星解析出来。
这个球状星团在非常南边的苍蝇座，距离地球21,200光年。它的一部分被银河盘面多灰尘的区域遮蔽著，在修正尘埃的红化之后，他仍然比M5或M92的年龄大了20亿岁。
