NGC 4625是在猎犬座内一个被扭曲变形的矮星系。这个星系在分类上是Sm星系，这意味着它模糊的结构类似于螺旋星系。这种星系因为与麦哲伦星系相似，有时就称为麦哲伦螺旋 。
结构
[编辑]不像多数的螺旋星系，NGC 4625只有一只旋臂，使这个星系的外观是不对称的[3]。它曾经被假设，这个星系的不对称结构可能是与星系NGC 4618引力交互作用的结果[3]。这种不对称性在许多交互作用星系间是很普遍的，但是，对NGC 4618和NGC 4625中性氢气体的观测显示NGC 4625似乎并未受到引力交互作用的影响[4]。这表明在NGC 4625中观察到的单臂结构可能是通过内在的过程创建出来的。
