Me 209战斗机
Me 209战斗机有两种，第一种是只有原型机（编号V1-V4，只生产四架）的竞速机版，使用为了竞速而特殊设计的DB 601ARJ发动机，Me 209是梅塞施密特飞机厂在当时纳粹空军主力战斗机Bf 109基础上专门改装的创纪录特种飞机。该机在1938年4月26日，由里·弗·温德尔（Fritz Wendel）驾驶创下755.138千米／小时活塞螺桨飞机平飞速度世界绝对记录，不过为了政治宣传当时纳粹德国对外宣称创造新纪录的是Me 109R，此纪录一直保持到1969年。
这个飞机设计上无法实用化的关键之一是他的散热系统：他使用的是1930年代 竞速机很常使用的表面蒸发散热系统，也就是说，液冷发动机使用的冷却水会在机身或者是机翼的表面通过的同时，以蒸发少量的水来换取液体的降温，在散热效果上很好，不过冷却水同时也会流失。根据一些资料显示，Me 209每分钟会流失4.5到7升的水，假如要执行一个30分钟的任务所需要的水，这架飞机的重量是很可观了。
实际上有考虑进入生产的是后来被称为Me 209五号原型机（V-5，正式编号Me 209Ⅱ）的设计，从六号原型机开始采用Jumo213E发动机加上前端的环型散热器，在性能上没有什么问题，不过在生产上受到Fw 190D所需要进行的改变，包括生产线方面比Me 209-II战斗机要少很多，而且Me 209Ⅱ的进度也偏慢，所以当Fw 190D9开始服役之后，Me 209Ⅱ的生产就被取消。
