HD 97658是一颗距离地球69光年的恒星,位于狮子座。该恒星的视星等6.27,接近肉眼所见恒星极限,必须使用望远镜才较易观测。该恒星是一颗贫金属橙矮星,年龄高于太阳。

行星系统

2010年11月1日,NASA-UC Eta-Earth 计划宣布发现超级地球HR 7722 b英语HR 7722 b。该行星的轨道周期只有9.5日,质量下限8.2 ± 1.2 M[2]。因为受到凌日几率的激励,在一年内天文学家获取更多的资料,并且将质量下限下修到6.4 ± 0.7 M,并增进了凌日时间几率的可信度。该行星的凌星现象被侦测到,并且于2011年9月12日公布。该发现使HD 97658成为巨蟹座55之下有行星凌现象的恒星中亮度第二高的,并显示该行星是类似 GJ 1214 b 的低密度行星[1]。然而,发现凌星现象的声明在2012年4月11日撤回 [3],并且在撤回后三日,恒星微变和振荡望远镜(MOST)团队宣布并未确认该行星的凌星现象[4]。半径高于1.87 R的系外行星已被排除存在。

进一步凌星现象观测于2012年4月进行,并且于2013年3月和4月证实凌星现向发生。前述的凌星观测确认HD 97658 b的直径是地球的2.34倍[5]。径向速度法则确认该行星质量7.86 M,半径则经由凌星现象测出,因此可计算出该行星密度为3.44 g cm−3[5]。由前述资料可推断HD 97658 b是一颗拥有巨大核心和厚挥发物层的系外行星;而挥发物可能是极深的液态水海洋或是浓密的氢和氦混合大气层[5]。该行星的表面重力大约是地球的1.6倍[5]
