It's not bad for a first try, but I think I need to play around with the relative sizes of the background and the thumbnails. The 500x500 medium size for the background is pretty small, but the original image I uploaded (even though I had scaled it to 50%) is probably too big for the zBoard viewer. I'll have to fiddle more....
There are some interesting dilemmas, too -- for instance, does the thumbnail go where you took it from, or where the subject is? What do you do about obscuring the very part of the background you're trying to highlight? (Hey, Fabricio -- it would be cool to push a pin into one position on the background, and then make a line of string from it to a photo placed somewhere else on the board, more out of the way.)
The background image here is an aerial view of the main part of the campus of Stanford University, California.
Original imagery from USGS urban high resolution color orthoimagery, obtained through Microsoft TerraServer and USAPhotoMaps. The image I saved from USAPhotoMaps was 7000x7000, but I scaled it to 3500x3500 to upload to Flickr.
