English: Red-billed Chough Pyrrhocorax pyrrhocorax in Kullu District of Himachal Pradesh, India. Finally, I could have a decent shot of this bird in Himachal Himalayas, after failing in the pursuit for past many years. This bird is always fascinating to a layman & the trekkers. They are surprised to know a crow with a red bill (bill shape unlike that of a crow) & red feet & with not-a-crow like call (far carrying & penetrating nasal 'chaow.... chaow') existing in Himalayas. From a distance, it will appear like a Large-billed Crow only as the curved red bill & feet etc. are not that visible or one doesn't pay much attention. Picture is that of an Immature bird, with bill still not getting its red colour. Taken at Tilla Lotani Camp (12,500 ft.) during Sar Pass Trek in Himachal.
