描述Flag of the Comoros (1996–2001) (Erroneous Variant).svg
English: Erroneous Variant of the 1996-2001 Flag which gained some controversy even at the UN. The flags at the Sydney Olympics were made by a Company called Doublet. The Comoros national flag used was the design supplied by now Defunct Paramount Flags which mostly followed the Flag Research Centre version of the flag. A Flag Bulletin article shows the design with the name "Muhammad" (مهمّد) in a single line and "Allah" in a different lettering and a different crescent. The design was used by the Annin flag company to make the Comoros flag for outside the United Nations. When the Comoros Ambassador to the UN saw it he heavily rejected it as having the wrong type of inscription on it. The words "Allah" (اللّه) and "Mohammed" (مهمّد) are meant to be the traditional ullams or monograms rather than the names written out in full. The Comoros government supplied official flags which Annin used to replace erroneous flags (Some info from FOTW)
