背景

在Wanna One活动结束后，姜丹尼尔因为和经纪公司LM娱乐发生合约纠纷，导致演艺活动中止。2019年5月10日法院作出“姜丹尼尔可以进行单独演艺活动”的判决，不久，姜丹尼尔宣布成立一人经纪公司，并预计在同年7月个人出道[2]。

《Color on Me》于2019年7月25日推出[3]，为了宣传新专辑，姜丹尼尔举办纪念巡回[4]。

《Color on Me》共收录5首歌[5]，专辑制作人为Divine Channel的代表制作人Kei Lim（朝鲜语：임광욱）[6]，姜丹尼尔参与了〈Intro〉之外的歌词创作。〈I HOPE〉找来了“Flow Blow”共同创造[5]。舞蹈方面，请来曾参与柯兰尼、克里斯·布朗舞蹈的舞蹈家Antonie[6]。

专辑《Color on Me》从16日开放预购，截止至23日共预售出45万张[7][8]。而根据Hanteo的统计，专辑在发售当天售出超过28万张[9]，并以34万2218张的销量纪录成为Hanteo Chart专辑日榜的冠军[10]。而专辑首周销量46万6701张的纪录更是个人歌手的最高首周销售纪录[11][12]。
