C值
C值（英语：C-value）是指真核生物细胞中，单倍细胞核（受精卵或二倍体体细胞中的一半量）里所拥有的DNA含量。有时候C值和基因组大小两个用词可替换使用，不过对于多倍体而言，C值可能是指同一个细胞核中的两个基因组。 一个物种单倍体基因组的DNA含量是相对的恒定的，它通常称为该物种DNA的C值。
词源
有些人误以为C值中的“C”是指“characteristic”、“content”或“complement”。当初于1950年铸造此一用语的Hewson Swift，并未精确地给出定义，在他的原始论文中，曾使用1C值、2C值等词，是“classes”之意。但是根据更新的看法, “C”应该指代“constant”或是“characteristic”[1].
