2011年加拿大联邦大选于2011年5月2日举行。国会下议院于2011年3月25日通过由加拿大自由党提出对执政加拿大保守党少数政府的不信任动议，触发这次大选。这项动议确认保守党政府藐视国会^[参1]^[参2]^[参3]^[参4]^[参5]。总理史蒂芬·哈珀于3月26日与总督大卫·约翰斯顿会面后，总督正式解散国会^[参1]。

从2006年起以少数政府姿态执政的保守党于今次大选夺得下议院过半数议席，以多数政府姿态重返国会^[参6]，这次大选也是自1988年加拿大联邦大选以来中右翼政党首次组成多数政府。新民主党亦赢得创党以来最多下议院席位，并首度成为官方反对党。另一方面，自由党首次沦为第三大党^[注1]，而支持魁北克独立的魁人政团亦失掉大部分议席，前者党魁叶礼庭和后者党魁杜锡均告落选，并双双辞去党魁职位^[参7]^[参8]。绿党则首次在大选中赢取议席^[注2]，党魁梅伊晋身国会^[参9]。

投票率约为61.4%^[参10]。

背景

2006年联邦大选（英语：Canadian federal election, 2006）后，保守党以少数政府姿态上台执政。该届国会会期差不多长达三年，是加拿大历来任期最长的少数政府^[参11]。保守党在2008年加拿大联邦大选中再次赢得最多议席，但仍未夺得下议院过半数席位，哈珀因此第二度执掌少数政府。

2008年大选举行六个星期后，自由党和新民主党已部署向保守党少数政府提出不信任动议。面对两个反对党夹攻，总理哈珀于2008年12月4日向时任总督庄美楷提请将国会休会至2009年1月26日^[参12]。然而，叶礼庭接替迪安出任自由党党领后，自由党改变初衷，在国会复会后取消提出不信任动议的计划^[参13]，保守党政府因此得以继续执政。

自由党再于2009年10月向保守党政府提出不信任动议，但动议在新民主党议员投弃权票的情况下被否决。^[参14]

2011年，加拿大选举局（英语：Elections Canada）落案控告四名保守党党员，指他们在2006年联邦大选竞选活动期间超出法定竞选开支上限（英语：In and Out scandal），因而违反加拿大选举法^[参15]^[参16]^[参17]。另一方面，国会下议院议长梅里根（英语：Peter Milliken）于2011年3月9日裁定国际合作部长小田（英语：Bev Oda）因更改政府文件而误导国会，而哈珀政府亦拒绝全面透露多项政策的细节和费用预估^[参18]，两者因此违反国会特权并面临蔑视国会的控诉^[参19]。梅里根将此两项议题交予国会委员会审议，并将委员会呈交报告的限期定为同年3月21日，即保守党政府公布财政预算案的前夕。

委员会裁定哈珀政府蔑视国会^[参20]，自由党因此向哈珀政府提出不信任动议^[参21]。下议院于3月25日以156票对145票通过动议^[参3]^[参4]^[参22]^[参23]，政府因而倒台。
