驿丞

驿丞是明朝特有的地方基层官员，是各州县主管驿政事务的官员[1]。主要为北京紫禁城传递资讯与情报，次要为押解流犯，三为明边境战争时当据点。根据《明史》卷七三载:“驿丞典邮传迎送之事,凡舟车、夫马、康糗、庖镇三布政司俱各一员。[2]”

清朝时仍沿用明朝制度，以驿丞管理驿站事务，到雍正元年，则规定满人不得担任驿丞[3]。

历史上，如李自成曾任银川驿丞[4]。
