邓迪捕鲸远征
邓迪捕鲸探险（英语：Dundee Whaling Expedition）是一场发生于1892年至1893年的南极探险活动。由苏格兰邓迪的捕鲸公司所发起，目的是探勘新的渔业资源，以应付日益缩减的北极鲸群数量。他们以四艘蒸汽船组成的船队，分别是“巴勒纳”号、“活跃”号、“迪亚那”号和“极星”号于1892年9月6日从邓迪出发，搜寻露脊鲸。[1]苏格兰探险家威廉·斯皮尔斯·布鲁斯也在“巴勒纳”号上。然而，栖息于南极海域的巨大蓝鲸不易捕捉，使他们改为猎捕海豹。1892年1月8日，“活跃”号船长托马斯·罗伯逊发现了邓迪岛63°30′S 055°55′W / 63.500°S 55.917°W。[2]
