避风塘

避风塘，是台风侵袭时中小型船只用以抵御烈风和大浪的庇护所，也是平日船只的停泊处及卸货处。其形式通常是拱形凹进的海湾，塘中连接大海的通道多以人造防波堤堵住，船只只靠狭小的通道进出。

在1990年代以前，香港已有相当庞大的人口在避风塘以水为家，并建立了的水上文化，中式餐馆的著名菜式“避风塘炒蟹”，就是源自食肆。随着香港的渔业式微，大多数渔民已上岸生活，而避风塘的作用至今未变，一些以避风塘炒蟹打响名堂的食肆亦已开业。
