西拉德请愿书
西拉德请愿书（英语：Szilárd petition）是1945年7月由科学家利奥·西拉德起草以及由70名科学家签署的请愿书。这些科学家有的在田纳西州橡树岭参与曼哈顿计划，其他人则在伊利诺伊州芝加哥的芝加哥大学冶金实验室工作。该请愿书要求哈里·S·杜鲁门总统在美国使用原子武器之前应该先将盟国提出的投降条件告知日本，让日本可以选择接受或拒绝投降条件。然而这份请愿书却未能送到杜鲁门总统面前。直到1961年，该请愿书才被解密并被公开[1]。
1946年，西拉德与阿尔伯特·爱因斯坦共同创立了原子能科学家紧急委员会，莱纳斯·鲍林（1962年诺贝尔和平奖得主）也是该委员会的董事会成员。
