深度
水深0~40米。
特别特征
本鱼头高背大尾柄细，体色多变化，从红褐色至深褐色，红褐色者为浅海产；黑色者为深海产。体侧具有5条不规则的深色横带。体侧及各鳍上均有白色斑点，全身被栉鳞，有孔侧线鳞片49~50枚。眶间深凹入，眶下后棘不发达，通常无棘，头部有冠棘，鳃盖骨及主鳃盖骨上有硬棘，具泳鳔。背鳍硬棘12枚、软条11~12枚；臀鳍硬棘3枚、软条5枚；胸鳍上半部及尾鳍截形。体长可达25公分。硬棘基部具有毒腺，必须非常小心。
