蛇石首鱼为辐鳍鱼纲鲈形目鲈亚目石首鱼科的其中一种，分布中东太平洋区，从巴拿马至哥伦比亚北部海域，体长可达30公分，栖息在沿海浅水域，属肉食性，底栖性无脊椎动物为食。
