英雄奇幻
英雄奇幻（Heroic fantasy）是奇幻小说的次文类，故事着重于叙述英雄传说。
历史
[编辑]英雄奇幻在十九和二十世纪早期并不盛行，作家罗伯特·欧文·霍华德创作一部英雄短篇小说《蛮王柯南》（Conan the Barbarian），剧情描述一位拥有超自然力量的国王与奇幻冒险传说[1]。随着J·R·R·托尔金出版《魔戒》，英雄奇幻开始累积人气，逐渐增加读者群。
作家林·卡特（Lin Carter）和L. Sprague de Camp也延伸《蛮王柯南》的影响力。
从1970年代开始，许多作者开始出版较长篇（有时公式化）奇幻小说，显示托尔金在市场上的影响力。1977年的电影《星际大战》产生相当大的影响力。与此同时，剑与魔法小说吸引力也暂时回升。
