致命情人（Bullet for My Valentine）是一组来自英国威尔士布里真德的金属核乐团。乐团成立于1998年，最初团名为“Jeff Killed John”，翻唱金属制品与超脱的歌曲。[3] Jeff Killed John 录制了6首歌，但并未发行。其中两首歌收录在致命情人的首张专辑。"《Eye Spy》变为《Hit The Floor》，而《Nation to Nation》变为《Turn to Dispair》。这两首歌不仅歌名歌词的改变，连拍子、吉他、鼓、贝斯、所有音乐都改变了。经济拮据改变了他们的音乐方向与团名，在历经数次团名变动后，最后将团名定为“致命情人”。[4] 2002年，乐团拒绝了 Roadrunner Records 的唱片合约，而与 Sony BMG 签下了发行五张专辑的唱片约。[5]
致命情人的首张专辑《爱情毒药》在英国于2005年10月3日发行，美国方面则为了突显乐团团名，选择在2006年的情人节发行。这张专辑是要献给他们的长期友人 Simon Roy Denning。《爱情毒药》打进告示牌排行榜第128名，并登上“Top Heatseekers”排行榜冠军。到2008年2月6日为止，这张专辑共卖出375,000张。乐团参与了“Download Festival”、Kerrang! 历史

[编辑]1998年，“Jeff Killed John”（致命情人前身）由当时就读布里真德学院的 Matthew Tuck（节奏吉他、主唱）Michael Paget（吉他）、Nick Crandle（贝斯）和 Michael "Moose" Thomas（鼓）所组成。乐团翻唱超脱和金属制品的歌曲，并在2002年发行由 Greg Haver 制作，收录两首歌的CD《You/Play With Me》。这张作品由专门为威尔士新兴音乐人所成立的 Pynci 计划（Pynci scheme）所资助，并让乐团获得在广播播放的机会。[7]

唱片合约（2002-2005）
[编辑]之后，致命情人举行演唱会以吸引唱片公司的注意。一场在伦敦的演唱会中，Roadrunner Records 表示愿意提供乐团一份合约，但最后乐团决定与 Sony BMG 签下五年的唱片合约，并与 Visible Noise 签下英国授权合约。根据主唱 Tuck 的说法，选择与 Sony 签约是因为“我们认为与 Sony 签约会有更多的窗为我们而开”。[8]
同名EP在2004年11月15日于英国推出，美国则在11月30日发行。这张作品由 Colin Richardson 制作，Andy Sneap 混音，共收入5首歌曲，也是第一张官方作品。[9] 第二张 EP《Hand of Blood》由 Trustkill Records 在2005年8月22日发 行，并且只在美国推出。这张作品比同名EP多收入了一首《4 Words (To Choke Upon)》。《Decibel Magazine》投稿人 Daniel Lukes 给予这张EP负面评价：“最糟的是，不是全部的音乐都那么糟。”，他认为乐团应对这张作品感到羞愧。[10] Zeromag.com 编辑 Josh Joyce 则称赞乐团“有着优秀的技术”。[11]

致命情人在与罗伯僵尸表演17场后被踢出表演名单。Tuck 在乐团官方留言板上，针对有歌迷抱怨T恤价格和音响品质回文表示，乐团在巡回中没有受到应有的对待。[25] 罗伯僵尸为了维持自己的商品售价而提高他们的价格（一件衣服40美金），而且只准卖两种商品。因为乐团无法使用更衣室，也没办法进行试音，Tuck 称罗伯僵尸为“抢钱怪人”，还说“不想与那老人有所关联”。Tuck 表示：“基本上，我们对他来说只是无名小卒，但管他的 — 如果他只是想要我们挂个名字，那就这样做吧。”[26] 几小时后，Tuck 留言对之前的文章道歉，声称他们“太过分了而且完全地夸大”。然而，他们在隔天就被踢出巡回名单外。一同巡回的时空飞鹰主唱 Andrea Ferro 将这件事归因于不谙世故：“或许他们在英国已获得一些成就，认为自己已经一路辛苦走过来了。但我认为他们依然还要面临艰苦和挑战，就像是每个人一样”。[27]
2007年6月，Tuck 罹患喉炎，一些表演也因此延期。7月中旬进行扁桃腺切除术，复原期至少要4个礼拜，让乐团被迫取消一些表演场次，包括担任金属制品“Studio '07”在6月29日西班牙毕尔包、7月5日奥地利维也纳和7月8日在伦敦温布莱球场的暖场乐团。机械头（Machine Head ）接替成为暖场乐团。[28] 虽然无法说话，Tuck 表示只要医生同意，他就会立刻进入录音室准备新专辑。[29]
《火力全开》（2007-2008 ）
[编辑]致命情人第二张专辑《火力全开》，在 Sonic Ranch Studios 录制，制作人为 Colin Richardson。[30] 专辑在2008年1月28日和29日于英美两地发行。[31] Tuck 表示：“最大的不同可能是速度和侵略性。这张更快、更激进。”[32] 专辑打进告示牌排行榜第4名，首周卖出53,000张。[6] 乐团已结束2008年“Taste of Chaos”在北美和澳洲的巡回演唱，其他参与巡回的乐团有无极乐团（Atreyu）、Idiot Pilot、Blessthefall 和七级炼狱 - 因为主唱 Shadows 身体不适而由致命情人的长期道具管理员 Carl Rigby 代替。他们也参加了2008年6月“Rock am Ring and Rock im Park”和“Download Festival”的演出；8月参加“Reading & Leeds festivals”。新单曲《Waking The Demon》现在在美国广播放送中。
2008年4月14日，乐团宣布，因贝斯手 Jason 'Jay' James 的女儿住院，将缩短加拿大巡回时间。[33]
乐团目前与Bleeding Through、Cancer Bats和黑潮乐团（Black Tide）一同参与“No Fear Music Tour”北美巡回。
他们在11月与12月将前往欧洲担任时空飞鹰的主要暖场乐团，Bleeding Through 和黑潮乐团也将是暖场乐团之一。[34]
乐团也宣布在2009年1、2月将前往澳洲和新西兰参加“Big Day Out”摇滚音乐季。
《Scream Aim Fire》将收入在游戏《吉他英雄：世界巡演》中。
《金属狂热》（2009-2010）
[编辑]2009年3月份，乐团已经完成了五首新歌并预定写好14首歌发表在新专辑上。夏天，乐团参与了Mayhem Festival的演出
2010年3月12号，乐团发布了他们第一支单曲The Last Fight的音乐录影带。4月12号，乐团发布了他们第二支单曲Your Betrayal的音乐录影带。4月26号发行了第三张专辑Fever。
《一触即发》（2012-2013）
[编辑]2012年10月22日乐团发布了此张专辑的首支单曲《Temper Temper》接着于同年12月17日发布了第二支单曲《Riot》之后又于2013年5月和六月各发布了《P.O.W.》、《Breaking Point》的音乐影片。而本张专辑在同年的2月8日发布。 此专辑获得了褒贬不一的评价。
风格与影响
[编辑]致命情人受到了金属制品、歼灭者乐团（Annihilator ）、潘特拉、机械头、铁娘子乐团、圣约乐团、超级杀手、Stuck Mojo、犹大祭司和麦加帝斯等乐团的影响。[35] 这些乐团启发了他们“易记的歌声、激进的 riff 和旋律”。[36] Blabbermouth.net 的 Scott Alisoglu 在《爱情毒药》的评论中，认为他们的音乐“墨守成规”，专辑像是张“为了MTV而做的作品”，和声类似于瑞典金属乐团烈焰邪神。不过，Alisoglu 也赞赏了像是《Tears Don't Fall》等歌曲，结合了“双吉他、快速敲击、高速的 tempo 和吉他 solo”。[17] 团员表示他们不会因为商业市场而改变音乐或形象。Tuck 表示：“比起我们的外表，我们更在意我们的音乐。”[37] 《Decibel magazine》的 Kirk Miller 则称赞他们在同步歌曲结构上的努力。[18]
