老人是中国古代星官之一，属于二十八宿中的井宿，位于现代星座的船底座。《丹元子步天歌》：“有个老人南极中，春秋出入寿无穷[1]”，老人包含一颗恒星，即老人星，是全天第二亮星。清钦天监所编《仪象考成》中，老人增加了4星。
