红斑羊鱼为辐鳍鱼纲鲈形目鲈亚目须鲷科的其中一种，分布于黑海及亚速海海域，栖息深度100-300米，体长可达33.2公分，栖息在砾石、沙泥底质海域，属肉食性，以小型无脊椎动物为食。
