矩尺座R是位于矩尺座η附近的一颗米拉变星[10]。 这是一颗中等质量的红巨星，通过氢融合产生部分能量。因为这种核聚变被认为是在对流的条件下发生的，所以它产生了过量的锂[11]。这颗恒星的星等范围从6.5等到12.8等，周期相对较长，为496天[4]。距离太阳系大约2,900光年[7]，亮度是太阳的7,764倍，表面温度为3,161 K[8]。
