非电影院首映是指在家庭影片格式上立即向公众发布的电影，而不是电影院发布或电视广播[1] 。直接影片发布也为独立电影制作人和小公司带来了盈利[2]。另外非电影院首映（拥有高调的明星）在全球创造超过5000万美元的收入并不罕见[3]。
