犰狳 (妖怪)
犰狳，是山海经的一种异兽，外形像兔子但是鸟的嘴，猫头鹰鹰的眼睛和蛇的尾巴，一看见人就会装死，出现就会有飞蝗等害虫出现伤害庄稼。[1]发出的叫声便是它自身名称的读音，[2]从内容体现《山海经》中有温带雨林特征。[3]现在也有犰狳,不过出产于美洲。[4]
记载
[编辑]《山海经·东山二经》：又南三百八十里，曰余峨之山，其上多梓楠，其下多荆杞。杂余之水出焉，东流注于黄水。有兽焉，其状如菟而鸟喙，鸱目蛇尾，见人则眠，名曰犰狳，其鸣自訆，见则螽蝗为败。[5]
