犯罪小说
犯罪小说（英语：crime fiction）是一种描述犯罪、侦查、动机与嫌疑犯的小说类型，通常可以与其他小说类型相区隔开来，不过界线可能不够明确。犯罪小说包括几个子类型，例如推理小说、恐怖小说、硬汉派侦探小说等类型。
历史
犯罪小说被视为一种严谨的小说类型大约在1900年左右，而目前已知最早的犯罪小说是1839年的《The murder of machine operator Rolfsen》，其他像是著名的作家爱伦·坡发表的《莫尔格街凶杀案》、《玛丽·罗杰命案》与《失窃的信》都是早期相当重要的作品。
与推理小说的区别
因为欧美一直没有“推理”小说这个类别，只有侦探小说（detective fiction）这个称呼。而侦探小说一词有许多限制性。因此常用更广泛的犯罪小说一词代替，较有名的例子有英国犯罪作家协会（Crime Writers' Association，简称CWA，中文常误译成：英国推理作家协会）。
