灰脸象尖鼠（学名Rhynchocyon udzungwensis），又名灰脸森吉，是一种象鼩。
特征
[编辑]灰脸象尖鼠的毛很稀疏及有光泽，头部呈灰色，身体则呈鲜红色。背上有一很阔的褐紫红色带，腹部及尾巴呈浅褐色。它们的体型稍大，上颚的牙齿较长。它们一般长56.4厘米及重711克。[2]
发现
[编辑]灰脸象尖鼠于2005年被镜头捕捉到并确认为未知的象鼩。[3]这些结果后来送交到加州科学院（California Academy of Sciences）的Galen Rathbun。他后来出发寻找灰脸象尖鼠，但2006年的旅程却没有发现。他指灰脸象尖鼠是126年以来发现的新物种。
栖息地
[编辑]灰脸象尖鼠是坦桑尼亚中南部乌德宗瓦山脉（Udzungwa Mountains）的特有种。[2]由于山脉被隔离，当中发展了很广阔的生物多样性。在这里很多物种都是特有的，在其他地方是没有的。[4]灰脸象尖鼠栖息在山脉中的两个保护区内，包括山区及亚山区森林。
繁殖
[编辑]灰脸象尖鼠的数量估计有50-80只，雄鼠与雌鼠的比例为1:1。它们会以叶子及土壤来筑巢。一株树上可以有4-5个巢。每胎约有1-2只幼鼠。就它们的繁殖所知不多。
威胁
[编辑]灰脸象尖鼠的主要威胁是人类的人口膨胀。非洲人口膨胀令很多森林及当中的生物面临威胁。山火也是一种间接的威胁。[2]加上它们的数量有限，栖息地的破坏会严重影响。另外有指猎杀也威胁它们，但需更多证据支持。
保育措施包括教育大众有关保护灰脸象尖鼠及其天然栖息地的重要。另外，它们栖息在保育区内也可以保护它们免受捕猎及人口膨胀的影响。研究也令学者对它们有更多的认识，可以监察它们的数量。[5]
