波特因在音乐剧《长靴妖姬》中扮演萝拉赢得了2013年东尼奖最佳音乐剧男主角奖。凭借这一角色，波特还获得了音乐剧杰出演员戏剧台奖和音乐剧杰出演员奖。2014年，波特凭借此剧还获得了格莱美最佳音乐剧专辑奖。目前他在电视剧《姿态》中担任主角，因此获得了金球奖提名。2019年，他获得了黄金时段艾美奖剧情类最佳男主角，成为该奖在主演奖项上第一个提名并获奖的出柜黑人男性同性恋。
早期生活
[编辑]波特在宾夕法尼亚州匹兹堡出生，父母是威廉·E·波特和克洛琳达·让·约翰逊·波特·福特。[2] [3] 他的姐姐是MaryMartha Ford-Dieng。[4] [5][6] 进入Reizenstein中学后，Porter就读于Taylor Allderdice高中，然后是匹兹堡创意与表演艺术学校，并于1987年毕业。[7]他毕业于卡内基·梅隆大学美术学院，获得戏剧学学士学位，并获得了加州大学洛杉矶分校编剧专业研究生水平[8]的认证。
