弃老是古代部分原始社会的一种风俗，将部落、村子或家族中体力衰退的老人驱逐、流放或集中到偏远的地方，任其自生自灭。弃老的风俗在许多地方都曾经被发现，日本有弃老山、中国有寄死窑、韩国的高丽葬、印度有弃老国，[1][2] 不少地方都有遗弃老人的寓言故事和传说。
