《惩毖录》，朝鲜半岛史书，由朝鲜王朝朝鲜宣祖时期的领议政柳成龙用汉语文言文写成，内容是专门记述朝鲜壬辰卫国战争，并检讨朝鲜在战事中所得的教训。柳成龙本人曾参与该次战事，在《惩毖录》中忆述了当时的经历，又收录了一批战时的文书档案，因而该书是有关朝鲜壬辰卫国战争及中朝日关系史的重要参考典籍。
《惩毖录》的成书
有关作者柳成龙
《惩毖录》的作者柳成龙（1542年－1607年），在朝鲜壬辰卫国战争爆发前后，曾历任工曹佐郎、礼曹判书、吏曹判书、副提学、大司宪、右议政、左议政等文职。有《惩毖录》、《西厓集》、《慎终录》等著作。[1]
《惩毖录》一书是柳成龙在家乡（位于庆尚北道安东市）的玉渊精舍写成的。朝鲜壬辰卫国战争平定后，柳成龙在这里回顾构想，并执笔写了《惩毖录》，记述该次战争对国家的侵害与得失。[2]
编撰目的
《惩毖录》具有以史为鉴的目的。据柳成龙在《惩毖录‧序》中说，战争期间，朝鲜陷于“三都失守，八方瓦解”的艰危状态，而他反思自己当时却“无似受国重任，于流离板荡之际，危不持，颠不扶，罪死无赦”，自愧在保家卫国方面贡献不多。于是便著书记下这个惨痛教训，“忧悸稍定，每念前日事，未尝不惶愧靡容，乃于闲中粗述其耳目所逮者”，将战争前后经过及各种文书记述下来，希望自己的著作能像《诗经》里“予其惩而毖后患”的精神一样，让后世不要重蹈他们一辈人的覆辙。[3]
内容
据朝鲜宣祖年间的刻本，《惩毖录》有十六卷，另有《附乱后杂录》一卷，篇幅如下：
- 第一至二卷：以编年体方式，记叙自万历丙戌（1586年）至戊戌（1598年）间中朝对日本的战事；
- 第三至五卷：为《芹曝集》
- 第六至十四卷：为《辰巳录》，收录作者在战时向朝廷的状启文书；
- 第十五至十六卷：为《军门誊录》，为作者自万历乙未（1595年）至戊戌（1598年）期间与战事有关的文书；
- 《乱后杂记》一卷：记述战争期间的事情。[1]
※另外，日本元禄八年（1695年）的《惩毖录》刻本，则为四卷本。
