弃械龙属属名Anoplosaurus)是结节龙科恐龙的一个,生活于下白垩纪阿尔布阶末期)的英格兰剑桥郡。弃械龙曾经被分类在甲龙亚目鸟脚亚目。属名意思是“没有装甲的蜥蜴”,但近年研究认为牠们其实是有装甲的。

历史

在1879年,哈利·丝莱博士(Harry Govier Seeley)将一部分的颅后骨骼、齿骨碎片、几块颈椎背椎荐骨、部分肩带肱骨碎片、部分左股骨、左胫骨、脚掌、肋骨、及其他碎片命名为弃械龙属。丝莱博士根据牠们的小型体型,认为这个标本可能是幼年个体[1]。最初,其他学者认为牠是甲龙类恐龙[2][3];直至1923年,法兰兹·诺普乔(Franz Nopcsa)认为部分的遗骸应属于弯龙类,而其他化石则属于棘甲龙[4]。诺普乔的看法受到支持,但之后被修订改为属于禽龙类[5]。在1999年,Suberbiola及Barrett重新研究化石,认为弃械龙应该是结节龙科的基础物种,缺少装甲的原因可能是这恐龙在幼年时死亡[6]。近年的其他研究都赞成这个解释[7][8]

在1879年,丝莱博士曾命名另一个,大弃械龙(A. major)。化石是一个颈椎及三个部分尾椎,与模式种发现于同一地层,原属于棘甲龙的一种(Acanthopholis stereocercus[1]。这个种现已被认为是嵌合体,颈椎是从甲龙类而来,尾巴是属于禽龙类的未定属[6][8][9]

弃械龙是四足的草食性恐龙,以低矮的植被为食,在身体上有装甲保护[8]
