巴雅塔斯

巴雅塔斯是位于菲律宾马尼拉奎松市的一个社区，所在之处有一个占地50英亩的垃圾堆填区，因而亦被称为“第二个斯莫基山”。[1]
2000年7月11日发生了一次山泥倾泻般的垃圾倒塌事件，官方数字声称218人死亡及300人失踪。[2]依照拾荒者的要求，灾难后数月堆填区已经继续运作，迄今仍然是菲律宾最大的开放式垃圾场。当局采取了一些措施改善垃圾场的安全，包括：垃圾堆放的角度已经由从前的70度大幅降低到40度，14岁以下的儿童禁止入内拾荒，垃圾分解发出的甲烷亦得到收集并用以发电。[3]
2010 年 12 月，垃圾填埋场关闭。[4] 2011 年 1 月，在旧露天垃圾场附近建立了一个具有更严格废物管理政策的单独垃圾填埋场。[5] 该垃圾场于 2017 年 12 月关闭，以便根据环境管理局 2017 年 8 月 2 日发布的命令，审查垃圾场运营商 IPM Environmental Services 的环境合规证书。[6]
