川普勒16（Tr 16）使一个巨大的疏散星团，也是银河系中一些最量恒星的家。它位于船底-人马臂的船底座星云内，距离地球大约9,270 ly（2,842 pc）[1]。海山二是这个星团内以肉眼就能够看见的恒星。
描述
其中最亮的成员是海山二和WR 25，俩著的光度都是太阳的数百万倍，还有3颗光谱类型O3的恒星[2]。 海山二和WR 25两者都是联星，其光度主要来自主星，但它们的伴星本身也比大多数的恒星质量更大也更亮。总计所有的波长， WR 25是两者中较亮的，估计其光度是太阳的6,300,000倍（绝对全波段星等为 -12.25），相较之下海山二的光度只是太阳的5,000,000倍（绝对全波段星等为 -12.0）。但是，海山二看起来比较亮是因为它在可见光的波段上比较亮，并且也因为它嵌入在星云中，因而夸大了它的亮度。WR 25非常热，发射出的能量大部分在紫外线的波长。
