小盾龙属（属名：Scutellosaurus）意为“有小盾的蜥蜴”，是植食性恐龙(实际上要到中生代末期才有草等禾本科植物，所以不能称为草食性恐龙)的一属，生存于侏罗纪，早侏罗世的北美洲，约2亿年前到1亿9600万年前。小盾龙是目前已知最原始的装甲类恐龙。与小盾龙最亲近的物种应为腿龙，腿龙仅能以四足行走，而小盾龙是可以二足行走或奔跑。
小盾龙身长约1.2米，臀部高度为0.5米，重达10公斤。牠们拥有小型头颅骨、长身体、纤细四肢、后肢比前肢长、臀部宽、长尾巴。小盾龙的化石包括两个发现于亚利桑那州的部分骨骸，但头颅骨部分只有发现下颔，牠们可用简单颊齿来切断、咬碎植物。小盾龙的颈部到背部、体侧、尾巴，覆盖者约300个鳞甲，最大的鳞甲排列在背部中线1、2排。
