客厅是住宅中用以接待宾客的地方，通常较其他房间装潢陈列为佳，通常为面积规格最大的一部分；现代家居较小，很多时和起居室合并。

现代客厅中通常亦有沙发或椅子、茶几及电视、音响等设施。因为客厅的对外接待任务，其装修和布置往往代表了主人的性格和爱好，也可以说客厅是一个家庭文化初步展现的窗口。

传统

传统东亚的大宅（如林家花园），以及欧洲王宫私邸，客厅与起居室系属两个空间，并不相同。而中国有位于两侧的花厅。
