夸克新星

夸克新星是一种假设的超新星,当中子星发生自发性的塌缩变可能成为夸克星。夸克新星的概念是Rachid Ouyed博士[1] (加拿大卡尔佳里大学) 和两位戴博士 (印度加尔各答大学) 在各种不同的出版品中提出的[2]

当中子星的转速降低时,通过一种称为夸克禁闭的程序,他会转换成夸克星。经过这个过程,恒星的内部将形成夸克物质。这个过程将释放出大量的能量,或许能解释宇宙中最高的能量爆炸,粗略的计算估计可以有高达1047焦耳的能量,可能会从中子星内部的转换释放出来[3]。夸克新星可能是伽玛射线暴的成因之一,依据Jaikumar [4],它们可能也参与形成白金等重元素的r-程序的核合成

质量介于1.5和1.8太阳质量之间快速自转的中子星是理论上能够在哈伯时间内自转减速转变的最佳候选者。这种质量的中子星仅占总数的一小部分,在这个基础上保守的估计指出,在可观测宇宙中每一天可能会出现两颗夸克新星。

理论上,夸克星是电波宁静的,因此电波宁静中子星可能就是夸克星。

夸克新星的直接证据很贫乏,然而,最近观测到的超新星SN 2006gySN 2005gjSN 2005ap指出它们可能存在[5][6]
