壮体汤加蛇鲭为辐鳍鱼纲鲈形目鲭亚目蛇鲭科的其中一种，分布于太平洋区，包括澳洲、斐济、汤加等海域，栖息深度288-312米，体长可达30公分，栖息在中层水域，属肉食性。
