善光寺地震是指1847年5月8日（弘化4年3月24日）于晚间9点30分，发生在日本信浓国的1场地震。该次地震震央位于36°42′N 138°12′E / 36.7°N 138.2°E，里氏震级是7.4[2]。导致了有许多房屋倒塌，至少有8,600人罹难，地震之后还引发了火灾，土石流，再来接着19天之后，同年5月27日，这座地震大坝的倒塌又引发了巨大洪水，摧毁了许多房屋，至少有35人罹难[3]。
