千里光族（Senecioneae）是菊科最大的一个族，下含150属、约三千种（其中三分之一属于千里光属 ）[1]各类陆生、水生、岩生草本、灌木和乔木[2]。
千里光属的植物含有吡啶生物碱[3]、四胞菊属植物含有呋喃佛术烷，这些都会使误食它们的牲畜中毒。[4]
