公众有限公司
公众有限公司（英语：public limited company，合法的缩写为 PLC 或 plc）是英国、共和联邦成员国及爱尔兰共和国的公众公司的一个类型。是唯一一种公司能够上市（但并不强求），并对外发行股票（shares）或债券（bonds）。公众有限公司是一种有限责任公司（limited company），是一个独立法人（legal entity），拥有有限债务（Limited liability）。股本最低为£50,000。[1]
在英国，一家公众有限公司的合法公司名称末尾中必须有“public limited company”或“PLC”、“plc”的字样。不过威尔士的一些公司会选择用“ccc”（公众有限公司威尔士语“cwmni cyfyngedig cyhoeddus”的缩写）结尾[2]。
“Public limited company”和“PLC”/“plc”后缀在1974年出现，此前这些国家和地区的所有上市公司均使用“Limited”（“Ltd”）为后缀。[3]
