光谱分析是根据物质的光谱来鉴别物质和确定其化学组成。

使用光谱仪分光光度计与相关电子设备,量测不同发射光源之光谱谱线。并采用仪器所提供之固定光源,量测不同物质之吸收光谱、穿透光谱与反射光谱。 因为不同元素的光谱会有不同的位置的颜色的谱线,或者会缺少某些谱线,但含有相同元素的物质的谱线却总是会在同一个位置具有相同颜色的谱线。光谱分析就是利用这个原理来分析物质的元素组成的。

光谱分析在科学史中有一定地位。无论在物理、化学、天文学、生物、医学、生化、化工等领域,都有重要的影响、发现和应用。

光谱分析可利用光谱仪以及图像软件进行处理以获取物质的化学组成。同时配合试算表进行数据分析。

天文学里通过光谱分析来对恒星小行星进行分类(详见:恒星光谱分类小行星光谱分类)。
