俳优

俳优是古代对滑稽艺人的称谓，初期主要为统治者和贵族服务，他们以逗笑君王、为他们排遣无聊为己任。只要能搞笑，他们有时可以说一些出格的话，达到讽谏的效果。专为君主服务的俳优又称弄臣。[1]

《史记》中记载的俳优优孟和优旃就利用了滑稽的讽刺功能对君王进行谏言的事。

继承古风，日本和朝鲜半岛仍然把演员称为“俳优”，台湾日治时期受日本文化影响，台语使用者在书面或口语亦使用“俳优”（台罗：pai-iu），现在台湾受过日式教育的老人仍使用这个字眼称呼“演员”。
